Comments: My family and I were lucky enuff to receive an E- litter puppy from Hugh. She (Elaine VSV - call name Gertie, has since become the apple of my wife's eye, my two small children's beared best friend and a source of great pride for me personally. Her training continues to progress well and she will run her Natural Ability Test later this summer under the the NAVHDA system. She possess' an excellent nose for birds and has been perhaps the easiest and most willing dog I have ever trained. Contrary to all of the stories of sharp tempered and aggressive DD out there, Gertie is almost certainly the most mild maannered and gentle dog I have ever had the pleasure of being around! I can't say enuff good things about Hugh and his dogs. Having never owned a versatile breed prior to Gertie I did all kinds of research to ensure I was purchasing a dog that in time would be both a good hunter and loving addtion to my household. I am very happy and Greatful to have found Hugh and Vom Slaney Vale Kenn

Comments: I am so impressed with your web site. Your passion and love for the DD is evident, and heart warming. I especially enjoyed your comments about old dogs. I, myself owned Britts for 20 years, before discovering the "ugly dogs". I am hooked. The next dog I buy will be from Slaney-Vale. Viewing your website has improved my already great Father's Day.

Comments: Wow! what a ride. Less then 3 years ago Bernice aka. Brier was to be my last dog. I was committed to train her to the best of my abilities, as first time V - dog owner my expectations were ? I found, her talents seemed limitless, her drive phenomenal, she trained me to find new challenges to keep her thirst to learn stimulated. Her testing accomplishments through JGHV and NAVHDA were spectacular, earning a title of prize 1 VGP and versatile champion is proof of that. Needless to say Brier has changed Rita's and my life. What do we do now that our testing is over? Go hunting of course and be ready for another pup! Mark

Comments: I am extremely proud of my E litter puppy, Eleanor. She is extremely intelligent, kind hearted, and a joy to train and work with. She is definitely the result of fine breeding and good socialization during her early years. Hugh Slaney is very professional, knowledgably, and brings much experience in breeding and training to the table. As a first time DD owner, I have found his articles to be a great asset. The knowledge I gained from them played a role in developing this wonderful new family member. I am thankful every day to have Eleanor in my life.

Comments: It was great to have you as a judge at the 2012 Armbruster Hugh. Thanks for all of the information you gave me. As a first time DD owner as well as a first time Armbruster participant you helped make the difference and helped calm a nervous first time handler. Thank s Hugh!

Comments: With my kindest regards, I would like to thank Hugh Slaney for allowing us the privilege of adopting one of the delightful E litter pups (Eva). Mr Slaney is a consummate professional and I believe the future of the Drahthaar breed is in great hands when it comes to Vom Slaney-Vale kennels. It was my great pleasure dealing with Hugh. He is a gentleman of great integrity and honest opinion. You could do no better than trusting him for great advise and counsel when it comes to raising, training and procuring a wonderful hunting companion! I look forward to many years with my new friend Eva and will certainly avail myself of his generous wisdom and experience raising her.

Comments: This has been an incredible year for me. Obedience training, force fetch, verbal commands, whistle commands, e-collar training, tracking, retrieving, pointing, whoa training, duck searches, marks, blinds, gun sensitivity, steady to flush, shot and fall, and above all keeping a happy dog. Our little girl, Bernice vom Slaney-Vale, aka Brier, has not only achieved all this but has done it with style! I am proud to say 2 weeks ago, at the age of 18 months, she achieved a perfect score of 204 points in the NAHVDA UT test in SD. The following week at Kelly Farms, MN she scored 192 points for her HZP. During the field search, the senior judge commented, “I would be happy to hunt over her all day”. He told me it is common to see incredible desire in some dogs and cooperation in others, yet it is rare to see one dog have so much of both qualities. He also commented on how well Brier and I work as a team. Our dog is a product of a team effort. To Hugh Slaney, for his love of the Drahth
